Q? How long is a driver allowed to drive?

A. The Working Hours Decree makes a distinction between driving time and working time.
Working time includes all times a driver is working, driving times, breaks and waiting times.
Driving time includes all hours that a driver actually sits behind the wheel, this also includes standing still in traffic jams.

There are many exceptions to this decision, but broadly speaking it means that a driver may drive a maximum of 9 hours and work a maximum of 15 hours. After this there must be a mandatory rest period of 11 hours.
A driver is allowed to drive for a maximum of 4.5 consecutive hours after which a rest period of 45 minutes is mandatory.

For more information you can always contact us.

Children up to 3 years of age and babies are allowed to sit on their parents’ lap, but for general safety reasons we recommend using child seats for young children.
